What buyers ask first
Common questions.
Is changing my domicile to Florida legal?
Yes. Changing your legal domicile is a well-established right protected by the U.S. Constitution. Florida is one of nine states with no state income tax, and hundreds of thousands of Americans maintain Florida domicile while living and working elsewhere. Your Tax Base helps you complete every step properly, including Declaration of Domicile, driver's license, voter registration, and vehicle registration, so your domicile change is fully documented.
Do I need to live in Florida to use Your Tax Base?
No. You do not need to physically reside in Florida. You only need to visit once to obtain your Florida driver's license; after that, you do not need to return in person for up to five years. What matters is demonstrating intent through proper documentation: your Florida address, driver's license, voter registration, and vehicle registration. We handle all of this for you.
Do I qualify if I own property or a home in another state?
Yes. Owning property elsewhere does not disqualify you from establishing Florida domicile. The key requirement is that you do not spend more than 183 days per year in any single other state. Your Tax Base helps you maintain the documentation that demonstrates Florida as your primary legal residence, regardless of where you own property.
What is the difference between Essential and Tax Guardian?
The biggest differentiator is CPA access. Tax Guardian includes 30 minutes per month of CPA consultation, a family member at no extra cost, business mail scanning, Florida Registered Agent service for your LLC, and Declaration of Domicile filing fees included. For most professionals, Tax Guardian offers the best value.
Are there any hidden fees or additional charges?
No hidden fees. Your plan price covers all included services. The only additional costs are state-specific fees (driver's license, vehicle registration) paid directly to Florida agencies, and an optional one-time $35 online notarization fee for Form 1583. There are no setup fees, cancellation fees, or surprise charges.
What is the Action Center, and which plan includes it?
The Action Center is our AI mail triage, standard on every Your Tax Base plan. It extracts the deadline and consequence from each notice, surfaces the reference code, matches a verified agency phone number to your timezone, and provides a one-click link to the right page on the agency's actual site. Medical and legal mail trigger reduced extraction. The feature is opt-in per category with one-click purge of stored extractions.
What happens to my mail?
All mail is received at your Florida address. Every plan includes digital mail scanning, so you can view, forward, shred, or store your mail from anywhere in the world through our online portal. With the Essential plan, we additionally forward important physical items like IRS notices, state documents, and financial cards. Tax Guardian and Premium add forwarding coverage for family and business mail too. We forward to any address globally.
Do I need to drive my vehicle to Florida for registration?
No. Florida is one of the only states that allows vehicle registration entirely online. Your Tax Base handles the paperwork so you can register your vehicle in Florida without ever driving it there.
Can I complete the setup from abroad or while traveling?
Almost entirely, yes. You can sign up, receive your Florida address, file your Declaration of Domicile, and register your vehicle online from anywhere in the world. The one in-person step is obtaining your Florida driver's license, which requires a single visit.
